GOHS XC Runners and Parents -
This email contains several important pieces of information. Please read the entire thing.
**If your runner does not have a CLEARED Athletic Clearance, they cannot attend practices until that has been done. Please contact me if you have any questions.
The last day of weekday morning practices will be August 6th. Saturday morning practices will continue until Meets begin, and may be scheduled periodically after that.
Starting August 9th, team practices will be in the afternoon at 3:00 PM. Personal workouts will then be in the mornings. I will be running a first period Running PE class that is intended to help Runners with their morning workouts and is aimed at Varsity athletes. I will be giving guidance counselors a list of Runners I would like in that PE class on August 6th. I will answer more questions about this on August 6th.
Runners Needing Rides To/From Practice:
I will send an email tomorrow to connect those who need help with those who can give help. This probably only applies to this last week of Summer practices.
XC Team Camps:
Team Camps went very well last week! Thank you to all chaperones, coaches, and parents who made it successful.
Team Parent Meeting:
We will have a meeting for all Parents of XC Runners at the beginning of the school year (probably August 13th at 6:00 PM in the PAC). I will send an email tomorrow once the meeting is confirmed. Remember to check announcements on the team website periodically.
Daily Workout Helps:
All runners should be rolling before each workout and afterward as well. Foam rollers will start to be required at practices starting August 9th. Get one that can be carried in their workout bag.
All runners should be doing strength and stretching on their own to supplement their practice training and they should be doing another workout each day of the week on their own. Often that is cross-training. Runners should have access to a pool or a bike, ideally, as methods of cross-training.
